The Ballymacoll Dispersal at Tattersalls

There is only one thoroughbred breeding operation in the world which has raced or bred the winners of the Derby, the Oaks, the 2000 Guineas, the St Leger, the Irish Derby, the Irish Oaks, the Irish 2000 Guineas, the Melbourne Cup, the Breeders’ Cup Turf, the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, the Hong Kong Derby and the Japan Cup all in the last 40 years.

Remarkably, it is not a global giant boasting hundreds of broodmares and horses in training. It is an impeccably run and uniquely successful breeding operation which extraordinarily has averaged annually only 28 mares in its rich 58 year history. It is, of course, Ballymacoll Stud.

The dispersal of the Ballymacoll bloodstock is the most important sale of its type in a generation. Not since the Joel dispersal of 1986 have purchasers had the opportunity to acquire stock from a single farm so carefully nurtured over nearly 60 years by successive generations of the same family. Rarely, if ever, has a broodmare band of such select numbers achieved so much on the global stage, and the Ballymacoll Dispersal at Tattersalls represents a unique opportunity to buy into the Weinstock legacy of spectacular and unprecedented overachievement.

Tattersalls is proud to be conducting this dispersal on behalf of the trustees of Ballymacoll Stud and proud to share with them the same enduring ethos of excellence and utmost integrity. We look forward to welcoming buyers from throughout the world to the Ballymacoll Dispersal at Tattersalls.
